David Touchton

  • CMW BREWERY 4824 East Cesar Chavez Street Austin, TX, 78702 United States (map)

David Touchton’s life seems written straight out of a country song, and he, himself born to sing the blues.

Born  while his mother was an inmate in a Huntsville, TX correctional  facility, Touchton was taken in and raised by his paternal grandparents.  His musical education began with his Papaw, who was a honky-tonker  himself around the Houston area in the 50’s and was a part of prominent  Texas music labels Sarg and Starday.

David  Fell in love with music as a boy and scrambled to take as much in as  possible, with his early influences being mostly traditional country  such as Hank Sr., George Jones, and George Strait. He continued on,  learning classic rock and artists such as Crosby, Stills, & Nash,  Neil Young, The Beatles, and Pink Floyd.

David  left Houston for Austin at 24 years old and immediately his musical  horizon was broadened by the introduction of so many local texas artists  he’d never known, such as Charlie Robison & Ray Wylie Hubbard. That  musical journey of knowledge never stops.

David  Touchton is still Austin based and has been playing music in the Texas  scene full-time for 6 years now. He has released two EPs, self-titled  “David Touchton” and “The Cigarette Sessions”, followed by a double live  album, “B-Sides & Suicides” in 2019.

Most  recently, David has released his favorite work to date, a full-length  studio album, “Wishing Well”, which contains influences from Howlin’  Wolf, Hank Williams, Guy Clark, and even Tom Waits. It is a very  personal, in-depth album asking questions of existence and exposing the  deepest heartache.
