Sahara Smith is an Americana singer/songwriter from Austin, Texas. Her richly poetic music is evocative of Texas legends like Lucinda Williams and Townes Van Zandt, and her unique vocal delivery and impressive range lend a passionate intensity to her unmistakable sound.
Smith’s musical career began when, at the age of 15, she won second place on A Prairie Home Companion’s Talent from 12-20 competition performing original songs.
Her acclaimed debut album Myth of the Heart, shepherded by producing giant T-Bone Burnett, led her to tour with such acts as Nathaniel Rateliff, Marc Cohn, Mason Jennings, and Los Lonely Boys, and she performed the single Real Thing on the Late Show with David Letterman.
In 2010, Smith swept the Austin Music Awards, winning Best Songwriter, Best Female Vocalist, and Best Folk Act.
After taking a brief hiatus from the industry, Smith is returning to her one true passion and revitalizing her career as a musical artist, performing and recording original material.
